The Sports Journalism Institute welcomed its 34rd class on May 26 with the start of a three-day virtual session. The 15 students and their instructors assemble in Phoenix on June 1 for a deadline-filled boot camp at the Cronkite School at Arizona State University.
The students are hearing from SJI alums such as James Wagner of the New York Times, Baxter Holmes of ESPN, Candace Buckner of The Athletic and Logan Murdock of The Ringer over the course of the next three days.
While in Phoenix, the class for four training days, will cover live events and hear from prominent sports journalists.
The first live deadline assignment for the Class of 2026 will be to cover the WNBA matchup between the Phoenix Mercury and the Minnesota Lynx.
